The Eastlake Arts District's (ELAD) focus is fostering revitalization of East Lake's neighborhoods by celebrating our culturally diverse residential base through the arts, visual art and the performing arts.
Our goal is to raise awareness of our community and show the City of Birmingham and the surrounding suburbs and communities that East Lake is a vibrant, alive, and diverse community of multiple cultures that should be embraced and encouraged to grow.
The East Lake Arts District (ELAD) is a grassroots not-for-profit resident-supported organization dedicated to fostering revitalization in the East Lake neighborhoods and enhancing the quality of life in East Lake by celebrating the cultural diversity of our residents through the visual and performing arts.
Our signature event is the quarterly East Lake Purple House Parade. We partner with realtors who have current listings in East Lake to host open houses one Sunday afternoon per quarter. We feature local, Birmingham-based artists who display original art for sale. In addition to showing off great houses and amazing artists, we also showcase local musicians. Its a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
We also work with PEER, Inc. and the East Lake Farmers' Market to bring art and artists into the neighborhood through the weekly Farmers Market at 2nd Ave S and 78th Street.
If you haven't been to East Lake in a while, its time to visit and see what's happening in the East Lake Arts District!
